The prestigious and internationally-acclaimed extreme sports event, KL Tower International Jump Malaysia (KLTIJM) is an annual four-day event that usually takes place in September, and sees hundreds of base jumpers leap from the open deck of Menara KL’s communication towerat the height of 300 meters above sea level. This sporting event was initially organised in conjunction with Menara Kuala Lumpur 3rd anniversary celebration on 3 October 1999. Since then, it has become an annual event for Menara Kuala Lumpur and has been listed in the Malaysia Book of Records as the first base jump event in Malaysia. Attracting base jumpers from all corners of the world, participants must meet certain criteria which is set for this event.

BASE is the acronym for Building, Antenna, Span and Earth, representing objects, which are mainly used as the jump point area. This annual event is held with the objective of offering BASE jump enthusiasts with the opportunity to jump off Menara Kuala Lumpur and at the same time, the activity will indirectly put Malaysia on the local and international tourism maps. A jump might only take seconds, but it is a sight to be seen, especially when organizers take the action up a notch with night jumps and 30-man canopy train jumping. Thrill-seeking aside, the event is viewable for free from any area surrounding the tower, but for those who would like to be closer to the action, a RM150 (without harness) or RM200 (with harness) ticket gets you straight to the open deck to watch the jumpers up close and personal.
